Our green energy partner Solar Futures of Staunton, Virginia has shared an article with tips to bring down energy costs for storage facilities.

InterChange first made a commitment to solar power in 2018. Solar Futures installed a total of 4,698 panels on four InterChange sites to create a combined 1.6 megawatts of power. This installation offset 45% of the combined power for these sites.

InterChange’s power usage in 2018 versus 2019 only increased by 0.035%, yet our annual electric bill went down by $136,000, a massive decline of 32% that allows us to keep costs down for our customers.

When planning our new Cold Storage facility we again partnered with Solar Futures for a new array. This new installation generates 1.3 megawatts of power, making it the largest solar array of any cold storage facility in Virginia. This array offsets 70% of the the facility’s energy usage for a total of near 3 megawatts generated across all InterChange properties.

We look forward to continuing our work with Secure Futures to bring down operating costs for years to come.
